You can discover God’s love in a welcoming and supportive environment. We desire to genuinely share God’s love and grace with you and with everyone we meet.
Saron Church is a multi-generational gathering of people with a rich history of 163 years in the Wabash Valley. If you’re looking for a church where you will be encouraged in your Christian walk, we hope you’ll take the time to get to know Saron UCC. You’ll find a church that is alive with the Spirit and the Love of God. Our doors are open, our hearts are full of grace, and our message is based on the Love of God.
We welcome you as part of God’s family where people from different backgrounds have found a “community” of caring. We encourage all people to join us for fellowship, study, service and worship regardless of race, economic, or political background. We accept you as you are, and we allow you to discover and to become all that you can be.
In the meantime, you can find what you need to get connected through our online resources. Check out our ministries, listen to a sermon, find information on our church, and read about happenings in the church newsletter and on our Facebook page. Please contact us with any questions.
Growing in and through God’s grace,
Gerald Demarest, Senior Minister
The Reverend Doctor Gerald Demarest holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma; a Master of Divinity Degree from Oral Roberts School of Theology in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a B.S. Degree in English Bible and Interpersonal Organizational Communication from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pastor Gerald is in his 32nd year of ordained ministry and is celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife, Cindy. He is a DOC-UCC ministry partner with dual standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. As Gerald considered ministry in both the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (DOC), he understood and appreciated the breadth of theological perspective common among both. He has served churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
Modeling Christian behavior, encouraging others, and providing pastoral leadership and care are high priorities. Gerald is passionate about leading others into God’s Word, helping them to experience God’s love, nurturing their spiritual development, allowing them to discover their spiritual gifts, and encouraging them toward effective ministry and service. Through meaningful and relevant sermons, he shares from the Scriptures in a teaching style of preaching and emphasizes where the faith is applied to life today. He is enthusiastic about teaching workshops and small group studies, and working with ministry teams to maximize each person’s gifts and calling and to enhance and fulfill the ministries of the congregation. He remains committed to sharing the gospel message in a loving fashion both in manner and content both locally and globally through short-term mission trips.
